Our classic range of single, double and glass pocket doors differ in design to our Syntesis range of flush pocket doors. This difference is mainly in the surrounding architrave. The classic pocket door uses traditional architrave around the door frame, but the Syntesis range removes this architrave so that the door sits flush to the wall. This creates a sleek and elegant, seamless effect which is ideal for minimalist, contemporary settings. But this does impact on the type of accessory you can install, because some will work with a classic pocket door and some will only work with the Syntesis pocket door.
Different pocket door accessories for different pocket doors
- Soft-close accessory – This is a feature that is also called an ‘anti-slam’ accessory, and when fitted means you can close the door with any level of force and the soft-close accessory will apply a brake and take control of the closing action. It will then close the door under this control, ensuring it is soft and effective. This prevents noise and damage, and also ensures the door closing action is secure and safe. This is one of very few pocket door accessories that can be used for all types of pocket door. So the same accessory can be used on Classic pocket doors, Syntesis pocket doors and double pocket doors. However, you will need to order two units for the double pocket door.
- Soft-close and open accessory – This works in exactly the same way as the soft-close accessory, but also enables you to control the opening cycle. This means the door can’t be slammed open as well not being able to slam it shut. Again, this accessory is able to be installed in all types of pocket door, classic, Syntesis and double, and again, you will need to order two units for double doors.
- Touch latch – The touch latch accessory is a very helpful feature that allows you to eject the door from the pocket in order to close it. This is a practical assistance when the door is fully open and sits completely in the pocket. It can sometimes be hard to grab the leading edge of the door to then close it, and there is a small safety issue in trapping fingers in the narrow gap between the door and the wall. The touch latch accessory is installed into this leading edge and just a simple touch of it will eject the door and make it easy to grab and close. However, because the passage width is different for different types of doors, there is a separate touch latch system for classic pocket doors and for Syntesis pocket doors. You will also need to install two units for double doors.
- Double Door co-ordination – This is a simple device that links two doors together and means you only need to push on one door to open both of them. This type of accessory is a great help for people with limited mobility, or who only have one hand free when coming to open a door. Obviously this accessory is only suitable for double doors, but there is a separate product for classic double doors and for Syntesis double doors.
- Self-closing accessory – This is a feature that closes the door automatically behind you once you have opened and passed through it. Again, this is useful for people with limited mobility, or who are carrying something. This accessory is not available for Syntesis pocket doors, but can be used for classic single and classic double doors. With the double door you will need to install one unit on both doors.
